After 10 years as an environmental entrepreneur, I sold my business to focus on visual story telling.

Inspired by the work of reportage and documentary photographers, the projects I work on are motivated by purpose. Over the past few years I’ve been particularly interested in ideas surrounding masculinity and how it affects family and community. UNORTHODOX: PRISON BOXING was my first major look into how un-channeled young masculine energy can lead to gangsterism in impoverished areas and how a sport like boxing offers a framework for discipline and mentorship. In 2020, during the global lock down, I was commissioned by THE JUSTICE DESK to create work for their YOUR ACTIONS DEFINE YOU campaign. My interests in masculine archetypes is shown in WARRIORS, an on-going portrait series of combat athletes.

In a country where gender-based violence is systemic, I believe we need to reconnect with strong masculine values in order to protect and uplift our family and community structure.

In the commercial space, my goals are to balance aesthetic with narrative, relying on naturalistic lighting to create feelings of intimacy. With a strong sense of creative direction and an intuitive directing style, I help match brand messaging with narrative-rich motifs.

I am  based in Cape Town, South Africa, where  I  am developing my understanding of the grappling arts. I’m available for advertising, lifestyle and unit photography work.
